Figment Group employs several laboratories that are certified by Health and Human Services (HHS) under the National Laboratory Certification Program as meeting the minimum standards of Subpart C of the HHS Mandatory Guidelines for Federal Workplace Drug Testing Programs. These certified laboratories are accountable for urine drug testing for Department of Transportation’s federal agencies.
At the laboratory, an EMIT (Enzyme Multiplied Immunoassay Test) preliminary screening test that is 92% – 98% accurate is performed. On an initial drug test, a negative result must be below the cutoff concentration. If the result is at or above the cutoff concentration, a confirmation test is conducted.
When the preliminary drug screen is above the cutoff concentration, a GC/MS (Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry) test is administered on a portion of the same specimen to confirm the positive result. This confirmatory test has been found to be virtually 100% accurate. This highly advanced technology is akin to taking a fingerprint of the drug. SAMHSA-certified laboratory test results have been upheld in the courts for more than 20 years. On a confirmation drug test, a result below the cutoff concentration is negative and a result at or above the cutoff concentration is confirmed positive.
